Vizsla Welfare is a registered UK based charity (no. 1147353) and a Kennel Club Approved rescue and rehoming organisation. Set up in 2012, we were the first independent UK charity solely devoted to the rehoming, health and welfare of the Hungarian Vizsla. Our Trustees, Welfare Officers, admin assistants and rehoming helpers are all volunteers, and working together we cover the whole of the UK mainland. We are affiliated to the Hungarian Vizsla Club, the oldest UK organisation dedicated to the breed, and we also work closely with the Hungarian Wire-haired Vizsla Club.
HOME
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Vizslas whose owners cannot keep them, for whatever reason, and to promote responsible ownership of the breed. We also work to prevent rehoming by providing free training advice and behavioural support to struggling owners.
If there is anything we can do to help YOU, please just get in touch with us…
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Please explore this website to see how you can be involved in our valuable work. Forever homes are always needed for Vizslas whose owners are no longer able to look after them, and experienced foster homes are also desperately required, so that incoming dogs can be safely looked after until their perfect new owner can be found.
We also rely on a nationwide network of volunteers. Would you like to join us and help Vizslas in need?
FUNDRAISING
Our work costs money, and contributions are always needed. You can donate online, and you can also fundraise for us, via Just Giving. We do hold our own regular fundraising events, and we will be publicising these as they happen.
Join our Fundraising group on Facebook to participate in our regular online auctions, where Vizsla lovers from around the world have fun bidding on fabulous items and raising money for us in the process…
We are delighted to be able to offer our support and expertise to the Hungarian Wire-haired Vizsla Club, and assist them where required with their welfare cases. In return they support us and generously fund the care of any wire-haired Vizslas who find themselves in need of assistance.
There are ‘Viz Whizzes’ held regularly all over the country: informal group meet-ups where Viz lovers get together (with dogs of course!) to walk and talk and have fun. See here for a comprehensive list of locations and hopefully find one near you.
Please ‘like’ our official Facebook page to receive notifications and keep in touch with the latest charity news and information, and join our Facebook group to share photos, ask for help, and stay up-to-date with the latest charity happenings.
The Vizsla community is a special one, and by all working together we can make a huge difference to our beloved breed.
